Picking A Tennis Racquet

picking a tennis racquet
Do tennis player levels matter for picking a racquet?

I wanted to buy a new racquet from Babolat but the ones I am interested in are all recommended for a player level of 4.0+, I was wondering if it really mattered because my level right now is between 2.5 – 3.5 (I’m still a little slow in some areas). Thanks for your help.

Your skill level does determine what Tennis Racquet you should get. For example in the babolat pure storm series there is a normal pure storm then the pure storm tour ( which is geared towards a higher level player) then the pure storm limited which is for someone who has mastered all the strokes and is very good at the game (usually 4.5+ ntrp rating) For your skill level I would suggest though the pure drive gt. It is a very solid racquet that provides very good power and spin while still decent control. This racquet however can also be used by advanced players so if you get better it will still be a good stick. It’s ok if something else says that it is too advanced. I myself have played with it and it is a very easy stick to hit with. The head size is not too small but not too big and should be good for your level. However if you want a more spin oriented racquet i would suggest the aeropro drive gt as that also is a very solid racquet. Both racquets are very forgiving and will last you a while even as you do improve. I would not suggest the pure storm series as it is a very control oriented racquet and takes very consistent strokes to use it well.
